Annual: India's Independence Day

Swajan Foundation celebrates India's Independence Day on August 15th each year.

Annual: 𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐧 - 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞

August 7, 1941, Calcutta. On this day, a period of prolonged, agonizing illness ended with the death of Rabindranath Tagore at his Jorasanko home. The Bengali calendar read: 22 Shrabon, 1349. Every year, the 22nd day of Shrabon, irrespective of the Gregorian or ‘English’ calendar, has therefore been a day of mourning in Bengal.

We celebrate Tagore’s life and legacy at Swajan Foundation’s India complex.

This year's date: Sunday, August 14, 2022.
